The Notes of Love Ceremony
Notes of Love is a unique and heartfelt tradition central to every Building Homes for Heroes project. Before the final finishing touches are applied, friends, family, students, and community members gather to write personal messages of appreciation, encouragement, and hope directly onto the walls and structural beams of the home. The notes, ranging from heartfelt thank-yous and scribbled masterpieces by children, to profound messages of support transform a construction site into a home of gratitude. While the notes may eventually be covered by drywall and paint, the impact they leave is lasting. Veterans and their families walk through rooms lined with this lasting legacy of love, knowing their new mortgage-free home is built on a foundation of heartfelt community support. This ceremony serves as a powerful reminder that they are surrounded by a community that honors their service and sacrifices.
