How Eastport Was Named
As dreamers we often manifest our future from our past, and since we began developing The Villages, we have often found inspiration in our history. From Brownwood Paddock Square to The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center, we’ve paid tribute to what is dear to our family and what we’ve loved in our lives.
When planning for this new area of The Villages, we started with the naming and layout of the lake. Because this area of The Villages is central to the plans for the overall community, it made sense for us to name the lake Central Lake.
Plans along Central Lake called for a Town Square located at the eastern edge, Eastport. Central Lake and Eastport, two small Antrim County, Michigan towns we grew up loving.
What's Planned for Eastport
Health and wellness are important to all of us as we age. When we first started naming and planning for this area in the early phases, we referred to Eastport as the lifestyle center because we wanted to bring the very best part of The Villages lifestyle into one location. All the foundational elements that keep us healthy, active, and young.
As you take a closer look at Eastport, you’ll see how the plans bring a town square, a regional size recreation complex, golf, entertainment, shopping, and dining into one intimate location.
This area will include many firsts starting with the 1000m Central Lake that Villagers will bring to life through all kinds of recreation, along with a Recreation Complex that will host The Villages very first indoor 20′ high ceiling gym.
As with all our towns, we like to create a history of what the town may have been which inspires the design as well as the experiences Eastport will bring to you.
Eastport Downtown
Stroll along a brick-paved alley or peruse the boutiques and unique experiences, including an array of entertainment, shopping and dining options along the waterfront.
Olympia Recreation
You’ll find almost all your favorite activities in this amazing recreation center including an indoor gymnasium and rock-climbing center. Outdoor recreation options abound on the grassy fields to the courts, and continue with activities on the water.
Hotel Eastport
Located along Central Lake with amazing water views, this all-new four story hotel promises to be another great addition to The Villages. Hotel Eastport will be a complement to all the wonderful lifestyle on the horizon and where your guests will have a great place to stay.
Golf Galore
Golf in the Eastport Area includes the 9-hole Bellaire Executive Course along with the Central Lake Golf Academy and Driving Range. Here you can play nine holes, hit a bucket of balls or take a lesson.
