James is a native Floridian who was born in Gainesville and grew up in nearby Ocala. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. While attending UCF, James worked as a manager for Barnes & Noble which enhanced his love of reading.

His passion for literature led him to a teaching career at his alma mater, Belleview High School where he taught English. His favorite aspect of teaching was the opportunity to positively impact so many young adults with different backgrounds and perspectives.

James married his lovely wife Kacey in 2015 and they now have two beautiful girls together. Frances “Frankie” who was born August 11th, 2018, and her new sister Goldie Gray who just arrived February 7th, 2022. He is so grateful for his amazing family. Kacey and James also have a Maine Coon cat named Yoda who is proving to be the protective older brother.

James is the oldest of four siblings, and his immediate family members all live close by in the state of Florida. His favorite thing to do with his free time is relax with friends and family. He also enjoys exploring the natural beauty of Florida’s outdoors by hiking, kayaking, and bicycling. Kacey and James both share an appreciation for live music and enjoy traveling and going to concerts.

James feels incredibly blessed to work for a company that sincerely cares about the community and their employees. “The Villages is amazing because you get to meet so many interesting people and make great friendships. I love helping my customers improve their quality of life. It makes me smile when I see residents having fun and enjoying themselves. Just playing a small role and assisting in their journey to a more active and happy life makes what I do enormously rewarding.”
