Steve Hanson

Originally from Glidden, Iowa, Steve Hanson has lived in Oxford, Florida since 2009. He started playing golf at the age of 10, when his uncle came to visit and introduced the game to both Steve and his dad. He attended New Mexico State University, earning a bachelor’s of science in business from the Professional Golf Management Program. Later, Steve earned his MBA from King College in Bristol, Tennessee. He has been a member of the PGA since 1996 and has been with The Villages since 2009. Steve says the best part of his job is the people. The residents have moved to The Villages to play golf and they love coming out with their friends and neighbors. His tip for playing Lopez Legacy & Glenview Champions like a pro is to move up to a tee that allows you to hit more fairways and greens. Golf is hard…don’t make it harder!
Shawn Mason

Originally from Harrogate, England, Shawn Mason has lived in the local area since 2025. He started playing golf at the age of 10 with his father and brother. He attended University of Oregon. He has been a PGA member since 2004 and has been with The Villages since 2025. Shawn says the best part of his job is being around so many beautiful golf courses and talking golf with all the residents. What other town in the world has this many holes of golf? His tip for playing Havana like a pro is course management. Play to your strengths and don’t try and over swing. Golf should be an enjoyable part of your day so enjoy the scenery and spending time with friends.
