The best self-care is caring for others. Carla lives and breathes by this belief. Growing up in a small town in Tennessee, Carla learned from an early age the importance of caring for the people in her community. She has always held onto her small town roots no matter where life took her. She has had the pleasure of living in Michigan and Oklahoma, before landing in Florida. In 2006, she was told by a co-worker about the neatest place ever! There was music on the square, restaurants a plenty, and magical water views. Carla knew that her co-worker was a year from retiring and that her friend was only interested in retirement communities. Then when she heard the name The Villages, she had to research it. She made the short drive from the Horse Capitol of the World to Florida’s Friendliest Hometown. Carla fell in love with everything. That feeling she had growing up was undeniably present. She had to share this feeling with her family.

Now, all these years later, her husband Travis is a Sales Representative for The Villages, one of her daughters graduated from The Villages Charter School in 2021, and two daughters are currently attending The Villages Charter School still. Those small-town roots have found a home. She lives right outside The Villages in a family community. If you ever have a chance to talk with Carla, you will hear her deep love for The Villages. Her daughters learned from the many retirees who volunteer at The Villages Charter School that life always has another chapter waiting to be written, another adventure to take, a journey that is evolving and that life is what you make of it. Carla will share with you how it changed her life and enriched the lives of her children. She will even tell you that living here is like raising a family while on vacation!

Carla’s professional life started back in 1997 with Union Planters Bank. She started in the Mortgage department and upon the bank’s restructuring she transitioned to Human Resources. Here is where she learned that with change comes growth and with growth comes change. She enjoyed working in the corporate world and being an anchor of compassion, reason, and diligence. Her last HR job was with a community developer here in central Florida, and due to the market changes of 2008, she found herself at a crossroad. She decided to follow a dream! She became a licensed cosmetologist with the unwavering support of her husband. After many accomplishments and being a leader in the business, she decided to join her husband and share her passion for this sweet piece of heaven. Now she is here helping others fulfill their dreams.

You can find Carla and her family living their best life ever! You can find her cheering on The VHS Buffalo’s at football and basketball games, with their youngest on the sideline cheerleading. During dance competition season, they will be in Orlando watching their daughter with The Golden Girls team going for another National title! They take time to enjoy beautiful days at the beach, sneaking in some retail therapy and finding serenity in nature as the family walks the walking trails right here at home. Carla will tell you that she is moved and inspired by the people who have the privilege to call The Villages their hometown. She and her husband realize the awesome opportunity they have in sharing this with the guests who select them as their trusted advisors.
