Living in central Florida all her life, it was a natural fit for Julia Powell to join Properties of The Villages in 2005. Julia was born in Orlando and raised in Mt. Dora, FL. After graduating Mt. Dora High School, she attended junior college in Lake Mary, FL, then transferred to the University of South Florida in Tampa. Homesick, Julia moved back to Lake County and finished her education at the University of Central Florida with her bachelor’s degree in Social Work and her master’s degree in Social Work/Psychology.

During the 5 years after completing her education, Julia worked as a mental health therapist for an agency with a contract in local public schools. This was a rewarding time in her life, but at the same time it saddened Julia. She sought to earn her real estate license during the latter part of her career as a therapist and then decided to utilize it. This is how she came to join The Villages family, and she has loved it here ever since!

Julia’s family still lives in Mt. Dora. She loves being able to spend time with all of them, especially with her niece and nephew. In the fall of 2008, Julia married Drew Fleming, who will always be her best friend. She loves being a mother to her daughter Jenna, who is now part of our sales team here in The Villages. “Working with Jenna is so amazing, and I love knowing she is proud to work together with me.”

When not working, Julia enjoys spending time with her friends and family. They like to go out on their boat during the summer and when it’s nice in the winter. She and Drew recently purchased a motorhome, so this is another favorite pastime of theirs. Being able to see new parts of this beautiful country has been a huge eye opener and something to look forward to. She also likes to golf, play tennis, and participate in outdoor activities. She really likes to do anything as long as she’s surrounded by people she loves.

During her career at Properties of The Villages, Julia continues to have many success stories. She loves seeing the positive change in her residents’ lifestyles as well as seeing what they’ve done to their homes. Most importantly, she loves every one of her residents and considers each of them a part of her family. One of her biggest pleasures is their continued relationships.

It is really rewarding to see the joy in one’s eyes when they walk into a home and say, “this is the one.” I love being part of their happiness and I enjoy seeing the eagerness of buyers who look forward to making a house their home. “Every workday is rewarding, and I love meeting folks from all over the place.”
