Gerry has been working with Properties of The Villages for over 25 years. Growing up in Canton, Connecticut, he was involved in theatre and music and also played on the soccer team at Canton High School. Gerry first found The Villages in 1987 and worked for 4 years in various capacities in their restaurants and the bowling center. He left in 1990 to work for a hotel management company running restaurants and hotels and working in a variety of locations throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean. Having friends and family here in The Villages since 1987, Gerry decided in 1996 it was time to relocate here and start a second career.

Gerry met his wife of 26 years when he moved to The Villages. Karen is from northern Michigan and relocated to The Villages in 1990. She worked for Teo’s, The Villages first restaurant, and then took a job selling furniture at Southern Lifestyles and continued to work in various capacities in The Villages Retail Department for 13 years. At that time she took early retirement to raise their 2 children, Amanda and Kelby. She now has her own custom embroidery, screening and gift shop in The Villages called “Gotta Get Your Name On!” located in La Plaza Grande near Spanish Springs.

Their children, Amanda 25 and Kelby 24, have graduated from The University of South Florida in Tampa. Amanda graduated with her MBA in Architecture and is an Architect Designer with Harrison French and Associates and works from home in Brooklyn NY. Kelby graduated with his MBA in Accountancy and his CPA and is an Auditor with Ernst and Young out of their Tampa office. Prior to college they went for 12 years through The Villages Charter School system graduating with honors and multiple college credits through dual enrollment. In addition, they lettered in basketball and tennis in their high school years. In their spare time as a family they like to golf, bowl, go to the beach and relax. Spare time is rare and valuable at this point in their lives.

With the children out on their own, Gerry and Karen added two sibling golden retrievers to their home, Brady and Bella.

Gerry feels blessed to have had the opportunity to work for The Villages all these years and having been able to start and raise a family among the values and the culture this wonderful community has to offer.
