Get Ready for Indoor Social Leagues at The Athletic Club

Hi Villagers, we’re here at Olympia Recreation Center inside of the Athletic Club. We are excited to announce something new for this fall. We’re going to be doing social leagues inside. So what that means to you is we’re going to have pickleball, badminton, volleyball, and basketball, and then also hockey, which we’re incredibly excited about. I’m thinking this is more or less as a friendly competition, and it provides me the opportunity to play with a partner, and that same partner throughout the league, so we can see how our skills progress throughout the entirety of the competition. Depending on the sport, you’re either going to sign up as an individual, or you can sign up with a partner, such as pickleball or badminton. if you are signed up as an individual, the Recreation and Parks Department will place you on that team, and you get to have 12 weeks of play with your fellow residents. You’re going to compete in an indoor environment, climate controlled. You can compete into the evening. It’s nice to, you know, play inside, because it’s nice and cool. It is a controlled environment, and so I know what to expect when I come here every day, that the environment will be the same. In order to join in on the fun, register online at districtgov.org, or you can go to any of our regional recreation centers, which are at your service locations, and sign up at the front desk. I’m just really excited to be here, and looking forward to the competition, and looking forward to the social aspect of it. Grab your friends, grab your gear, and come on down to Olympia Recreation Center, and join us in our Recreation and Parks Social Leagues.
